Hello and welcome,

About me – I am a Clinical Psychologist with a warm and supportive approach. I provide therapy to adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, burnout, postpartum / postnatal depression, attachment difficulties, emotion difficulties, and the impact of trauma. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine human connection, where both therapist and client meet as equals. I consider a vital part of my role is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can explore the difficulties for which you seek help with.

My approach – I have a background in various psychotherapeutic approach, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness. In my practice, my main approach is Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). ISTDP is a powerful and evidence-based form of therapy that helps people understand and work through the emotional roots of their struggle. Together, we will look beyond surface symptoms to uncover the underlying patterns that keep you feeling stuck. The aim is not only relief from distress, but also a deeper sense of freedom, resilience, and deeper connection to yourself and others.

What to expect – With all clients, I recommend we meet for two, 90 minute, initial assessment sessions. Here we can talk about your reasons for seeking therapy, the goals you have for yourself and your wellbeing, and how this treatment approach can be helpful. From here, we can agree how to proceed. In most cases, I meet with clients for 90 minute sessions either once a week or fortnightly.

I provide 1:1 therapy with bases in Altrincham, Greater Manchester and Macclesfield, Cheshire, as well as offering sessions online.

Looking to start therapy? Please do get in touch by email (frances.chaisty@outlook.com) and we can arrange to meet for an initial assessment. Starting therapy can sometimes be an unknown venture, however meeting for an initial assessment is a great place to start.
